Americans' Ian Somerhalder who plays Hamilton and Katherine Moennig who plays
Jake.
TheWBAndrew: Sorry for all the technical difficulties we've been
having...thank you for your patience.
IanS: Hello everyone...
KatherineM: Hi everyone!
TheWBAndrew: let's get to the questions...
stsracer: Katherine , is it hard playing a guy?
IanS: At times...:-)
stsracer: How did it feel to finally hook up?
KatherineM: I think it was due time...:)
IanS: Me too...definitely time...
IanS: Kate and I are a lot alike...yeah, it was definitely time.
LAMPS: What is your favorite tv show?
IanS: I like The Sopranos.
KatherineM: 90210 re-runs
adry: Do you get along with the people you work with on the show?
KatherineM: So well, they're like a second family.
IanS: Most definitely
LAMPS: What actor or actress do you admire the most?
KatherineM: Sean Penn and Faye Dunaway.
IanS: I also like Sean Penn...I also admire Robert Downey Jr. He's a great actor
despite his downfalls which everyone has.
Hawaii53: Will Young Americans be continued in the fall?
KatherineM: We certainly hope so and we could use everyone's support so please

LAMPS: How has you life changed since Young Americans first aired?
KatherineM: Ummmm...I can pay my bills and people do double takes on the street.
IanS: For me...It's much more fulfilling and it's pretty much full of happiness
and positive energy....mixed in with a little stress to say the least.
adry: Hey how do u like working on the show?
KatherineM: I love it, I think everyone is wonderful!
IanS: I love it too.
LAMPS: What's your idea of a dream vacation?
KatherineM: Complete relaxation.
IanS: Big boat, secluded island, no cellphone.
LuckyGirl: According to you two and the other cast memebrs how has the audience
response been to the show?
IanS: We've had a really successful turnout as far as the net goes and our
ratings are up! The audience is very involved and supportive and we love that.
LAMPS: What's your favorite book?
IanS: Atlas Shrugged for me.
KatherineM: The last book I read was Alex Garland's "The Beach". It
was brilliant.
stsracer: Katherine, how did you get started acting?
KatherineM: In Philadelphia I started doing children's theater with a friend of
mine and as time went I realized how much I loved it so I just continued from
there.
IanS: I've written two screenplays which I hope to act in as well but there are
two other projects in the works as well.
guest109: What do Ian and Katherine think about the Brad Pitt/Jennifer Aniston
wedding?
KatherineM: God bless it!
IanS: It's a wonderful thing...they're happy!
2youngamericans: Katherine, did you always want to be a actress?
KatherineM: No, when I was 9 I wanted to be a doorman, and then I went through
the phase of wanting to be an FBI agent, then a marine biologist. I didn't
realize that you could be an actor and get paid.
angeluna02: What's the best thing about being on Young Americans?
KatherineM: The experience, the people and the work.
IanS: Geez we think alike that's what I was going to say, so same here.

danielle007: Is Kate Moennig gay in real life?
KatherineM: No.
Janemonty: What kind of music do you listen to?
IanS: i have a really ecclectic taste of music...just no rap and country
KatherineM: The Gone in Sixty Seconds sountrack is pretty good.
SlayerGirl01: Katherine, how does it feel playing dual roles as both a girl AND
a "guy".
KatherineM It's a huge challenge, but at the end of the day I realized how much
I learned.
kaymonkey: Ian, your character "throws caution to the wind" and kisses
Jake, although he is not yet aware that Jack is a girl. How do you feel about
the issue of gay relationships among the youth of America?
IanS: I think that there is a lot of sexual confusion at that age...and people
probably don't know how to deal with it...but in life as in the show it's dealt
with and figured out.
LAMPS: what's the one thing you can't live without?
KatherineM: My friends and family.
IanS: something to do, someone to love and something to hope for...that's all
that someone needs.
kaymonkey Is "jake" going to switch over to Rawley girls so that
Jaclyn and Hamilton can be a "couple"?
KatherineM: You'll have to wait and see, but Jake doesn't have to go anywhere to
get what she wants.
KristinaB155: Ian, are you single?????
IanS: Yes I am...

KristinaB155: Katherine, do people treat you any differently because you play a

KatherineM: No

IanS: no

stsracer: do you think kids relate to your characters since you play a bunch of
rich kids in a private school?
KatherineM: Yeah, I would think so.
IanS: well, I don't think it's how much money the characters have that
matters....our life experiences will relate to everybody
Jessalyn: Why did it take so long for Katherine to tell Ian she was a girl? And,
is Ian a good kisser? I mean he is extremely hot!
KatherineM: Totally a good kisser. Jake was afraid of his reaction.
IanS: Kate's a GREAT kisser.
meggers605: What are "flags" and how much do they cost???
KatherineM: You can get anything that has the American flag on it and they
shouldn't cost any more than $2.
KristinaB155: If you could choose any TV show to guest star on, which one would
it be???
KatherineM: The Sopranos.
IanS: Sex and the City as a kid who makes everyone run around and freak out...

LuckyGirl: Katherine, after all the Boys Don't Cry hype how did your
family feel about being cast as a woman playing a man?
KatherineM: I actually was up for that movie, so when I got this role six months
later my family was completely psyched. Everything happens for a reason.
Bowen: Ian, how long have you been acting?
IanS: I've been doing theater since I was 6 but started really studying about 3
years ago.
cyberkhan: question for Katherine, Are you in or out of college?
KatherineM: I didn't go to college.
ryan smith: katherine, Are you really Gwyneth Paltrow's cousin?
KatherineM: Yes
chimerenorell: Katherine are you really a fan of Sarah Maclachan?
KatherineM: I enjoy some of her music, yeah.
adry: Ian, what did you do for a career, before the show?
IanS: Oh gawd...I was a model and an aspiring writer as well.
Lisabee292: Hey, Ian... if you live close to Illinois, will you marry me? and if
not... will you marry me anyway??? ha ha.
IanS: You don't want to be married to me... :-)
tumbleweed15: Many actors say that they do what they do to sort of escape their
own skin and take on several different identities. What are your reasons for
acting?
KatherineM: You just nailed it.
IanS: To explore different parts of yourself and different emotional
lives....not to hide from who you are but to actually explore who you are.
Jess09: Katherine you are gorgeous...any loves?
KatherineM: Thank you, but no.
shanebega25: Katherine and Ian, ya'll are very talented and I wanted to know is
it hard to choose friends now?
IanS: No, not at all...nothing has changed. KatherineM: No, it's not. Whether
you're becoming "known" or not, you always have to use the right
judgement in choosing who you're close with.
joshmike1700: Hey Ian, who is your biggest inspiration in life?
IanS: I don't have one particular person...it's a group of people that inspire
different senses and loves.
kissigirl: Ian, what companies did u model for???
IanS: Guess. Versace. Levi's..and others I won't mention but it's all good.
PcpZoo: Katherine have you always worn your hair that way?
KatherineM: No, it's been cut pretty short for the role.
paceysgirl1: Katherine, what advice would u give aspiring young actresses?
KatherineM: Know your craft and never take no for an answer from anybody.
fan of ya: Me and my friends met you a few times in Havre de Grace over the last
few months. We're the group of 5 girls that knows Mr. Perry. Anyway I just
wanted to tell you how thankful we are for putting up with us!
IanS: I just want to say thanks very much for your support...and enjoy the

tumbleweed15: What is it like to have to re-live your adolescence?
KatherineM: It's not as painful.
IanS: It's wonderful...I was robbed the first time around because of my job.
Amy Johnson: KatherineM... will your character be exposed this summer?
KatherineM: You'll just have to wait and see...:-)
starz2004: Are you two just friends or do you go out together?
IanS: We're friends....and we hang together a lot....
KatherineM: We are very good friends.
cyberangel: How long will "Young Americans" run?
IanS: For another month...but we want you to help us stay on by sending American

c_jones: Katherine, what is the biggest thing you learned from playing a guy?
KatherineM: The clothes are comfortable...but on a deeper level I learned that
the competition between boys isn't as strong as between women.
davey p: Katherine, where do you see yourself in 10 years, acting aside?
KatherineM: I see myself in a beautiful loft in NY with my dogs and hopefully a
strong relationship.
mariem: Do you have any spoilers for the next episode(s)?
IanS: ...Bella meets her real father....:-) that's all I can say
